This is a topic that has been mulled over countless times, and not once has there been an answer that everyone can agree on. And that’s probably not going to start now. Nonetheless, everyone has an opinion, so here is my list of the top three quarterbacks in NFL history:
#1 Joe Montana: Montana is a portrait of what it is to be an NFL QB: calm, smooth, efficient, clutch. He embodied all of those traits and then some. Throwing for over 40,000 passing yards in his 15 year career, his accuracy and flair for the dramatic was paralleled by none. He owns 4 MVP awards and 4 Super Bowl rings, and has a 127.8 passer rating in the Super Bowl, with ZERO interceptions.
#2 Tom Brady: He’s the most magazine cover worthy QB since Joe Namath graced the east coast, but he flat out knows how to win and has the hardware to prove it. Along with 4 Super Bowl rings, he has 3 Super Bowl MVPs. He has a 50 TD season and an undefeated regular season campaign under his belt. His only drawback is that he plays in an era of inflated passing numbers, which is why he stands at #2.
#3 John Elway: Elway was the man when it came two the 4th quarter, especially those two minute drills. He was the one guy teams didn’t want to see across from them when the game was on the line. Elway lost in three Super Bowls in the 80’s, but he had his way in the end, winning two rings and throwing for over 51,000 yards before retiring.
